A lot is happening in and around Black Hollywood.  So here is quick rundown of a few developing stories…

First up, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is launching a new sports clothing line called V7.  According to TheGriot, the line will be exclusively made for East Coast sporting good shop Modell and will feature technical athletic clothing such as T-shirts. Vick will donate part of the sales proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club of Philadelphia.

Gladys Knight

Next up, Motown music legend Gladys Knight is the new ‘lead judge’ on Centric’s Apollo Live.  If you remember, RC reported a few months back that hip hop legend Doug E. Fresh and New Edition’s Michael Bivins were already judges for the new singing competition held at NYC historic Apollo Theatre.  Now the ‘Midnight Train to Georgia’ singer will round out the trio of judges along with host comedian/actor Tony RockJamie Foxx will serve as the show’s executive producer.

Alicia Keys

Lastly, Alicia Keys’ HIV-AIDS non-profit organization Keep a Child Alive  will honor Oprah Winfrey as part of its ninth annual Black Ball this fall.

UptownMagazine is reporting that Keys will pay “special tribute to the empowerment of women—the heartbeat, soul, and backbone of the AIDS movement.”  Keys also added that Winfrey is a personal hero because “her philanthropic work truly comes from the heart.”
