Usher Raymond has no problem telling you how he really feels. In fact, “Mr. Entertainment” was very forth coming during a recent interview with the UK press regarding his upcoming role as Sugar Ray Leonard in the new movie, Hands of Stone.

Apparently, the singer-songwriter said his portrayal of the boxing legend was ‘proper casting’ by the film’s producers and that he is not intimidated at all acting alongside veteran Hollywood actor Robert Dinero.

“No… I’m not intimidated in any way. Because there’s a shared passion and respect among all of us, and it’s the type of script that will allow all of us to shine.”

He also went on to say that although he is not sure if this role will yield him an Oscar, like Dreamgirls did for Jennifer Hudson, he is not taking the part lightly…

“I don’t know if this is the one that would win me an Oscar or not. I’m going into it offering my interpretation and my hard work and my dedication to be the best Sugar Ray ever. Or as good as the man can be. I’ve spoken to him, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to live up to him. But I’ll try to be better than him.”

Hands of Stone focuses on the story of Panamanian boxer Roberto Duran. No release date has been set.

Tell us what you think about his statements?  Is he cocky or confident?
