Veteran television/film actress, singer and comedian Margaret Theresa Bradley, better known as Marla Gibbs is 81 today!
We all know Ms. Gibbs as the wisecracking maid Florence Johnston on The Jeffersons and as mother and wife Mary Jenkins on 227. She continues to pop on other series – including a memorable turn as herself on an episode of Chappelle’s Show—as well as the occasional film role. Recently, she had the pleasure of reuniting with her former 227 costar, Regina King for an episode of Southland.
She is still busy and would love to do another sitcom if one is offered to her. Ms. Gibbs latest project is her role as Hattie in Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection Plan (June 29th). Earlier this year she was cast as Grandma Eddy in The First Family TV series, which is in pre-production. She plays Mrs. Crabtree in C’mon Man starring Tony Rock; the comedy chronicles the rise, fall and attempted rise again of a stand-up comedian plagued by his own demons. She is busier than most!
