The 2012 Jamaican Olympic team will compete in style this summer in London thanks to Cedella Marley!

The daughter of the late reggae music legend, Bob Marley was asked by PUMA to design stylish Olympic gear for her country’s team.  The collection is said to be “a fashionable reflection of the Caribbean nation’s culture, history and style—vibrant, upbeat and hopefully unbeatable…”

According to BET.com, Marley drew inspiration from her father’s personal style such as military-inspired jackets boasting colors of gold, black and green. Even images of Bob and words of his song titles are woven into the collection.

“We took the fit of what my dad would wear and updated it to 2012,” Marley said. “You have the Iron Lion military jacket, the Buffalo Soldier shirt. I tried to incorporate the Bob Marley fit in as many pieces as possible where we were able to accommodate that.”

Current Jamaican track champ Usain Bolt came on board as a model for the collection and had this to say about Cedella’s work.

“PUMA got that right…hooking up with a legendary Jamaican. She’s a great designer but also carries on the spirit of our nation through the legacy of the Marley family. It’s going to be inspirational to run in London with that energy surrounding me.”
