Today we lost a legend!  “Queen of Disco”, Donna Summer passed away in Florida after her bout with cancer; she was 63.

Her family released a statement saying Summer had died and that they “are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy.”‘

Her death comes as a shock to many; the Diva had legions of fans!  The legendary superstar was publicly active as recently as last June, when she appeared as a guest panelist on BRAVO’s music reality show Platinum Hit.

The five-time-Grammy winner rose to fame in the 1970s with hits Last Dance and Bad Girls.  Let’s not forget the hit singles she cowrote, Love to Love You Baby and She Works Hard For Her Money!

The pioneer in the dance music genre is survived by daughters Brooklyn and Amanda, her adult daughters with husband Bruce Sudano, a fellow musician whom she married in 1980, and Mimi, her eldest daughter with first husband, actor Helmuth Sommer.
