Lenny Kravitz can now add chair designer to his list of many talents. The “Hunger Games” star revealed his new chair line for Italian Furniture Company Kartell during this week’s Milan Furniture Fair.
Kravitz, who has been touring Korea, based his luxury line of chairs on Philippe Starck’s “Mademoiselle” and designed them in variety of fabrics including python, leather and fur. Kravitz also created black and white tiles inspired by water drops and waves for Lea Ceramiche. For Kravitz, his design aspirations are as much a part of his upbringing as his appreciation for music.
“Since I was a kid, it was always important how my room was put together. I would buy all these posters, fabrics and lighting, and I would make the room the way I wanted it to be. The most important thing was to create a vibe and once that happened, “my world was set.”
Kravitz also owns a design company [Kravitz Design Inc.] and has completed projects for Swarovski and Miami’s Delano Hotel. The singer is even known to work on pieces after concert performances along with his design team. It is a passion that he says is definitely fueled by his love for creating.
“I love that I am maturing. I am glad to be doing what it is that I love. I appreciate it now more than ever. When you are younger … I think I was running so fast, I didn’t get to take it all in. I am really savoring being creative, I am really savoring each moment.”
