Heart-throb Jason Derulo announced this week that he will return to performing on May 22 as part of the first night of American Idol’s two-part finale.
Derulo has pretty much been out of the spotlight since fracturing his neck back in January during a rehearsal for his UK tour. He recently credited his girlfriend Jordin Sparks as a major source of inspiration during his recovery.
“I have been in great spirits since the accident. Everything happens for a reason. But I’m actually in the last weeks of the whole process, so I’m excited but also really anxious to get this thing off my neck. It’s kind of like someone’s chocking me for 24 hours a day.”

The singer’s return to the stage will also mark the first time he will perform an original song entitled, “Undefeated.” It is a tune that is being written by Derulo and fans as part of a songwriting-competition sponsored by Derulo and Coca-Cola.
Derulo is said to have to have already written half of the first verse and chorus of the song and says that the timing of the song couldn’t have been more perfect considering his recent accident.
“It’s basically my story of what happened. But also its about how through any adversity, anything negative that happens to you, you can still come out undefeated if you think positively and continue to drive forward towards your goals. “
We look forward to Jason Derulo’s performance on “Idol” on May 22!
