Two gay dads and a baby mama create a totally new kind of family comedy…now tag on the assistant of the gay couple’s lawyer, Rocky played by NeNe Leakes and you have The New Normal!
Ms. Linnethia Leakes has been one busy lady these days; she’s gone from television personality on RHOA to actress in her recurring role as Coach Roz on Glee. She’s also played herself in BET sicoms The Game and Let’s Stay Together. Let’s not forget NeNe was a contestant on the eleventh season of Donald Trump’s The Celebrity Apprentice (which made her “very rich”).
Of her new role on The New Normal, she had the following to say to reporters about her character during NBC’s upfront presentations:
“I’m Rocky, one of the gay guy’s assistants. I take it very personal, honey, if you talk about my gays, honey. Only I can talk about them and I’m fabulous. She’s very different from Roz Washington on Glee; she’s always in workout outfits and sneakers. Rocky wears high heels every day. This is very fitting for me because in my real life, you don’t mess with my gays, honey. I don’t play that.”
Will NeNe leave Glee or BRAVO’s RHOA?
“I hope to stay on Glee, I hope to still be a Housewife and I hope to do The New Normal. I just want to do it all! Why not? I’m only going to be young for a little while longer.”

After looking at this this here trailer, it is affirmed that NeNe has some legitimate acting chops. I really kind of like the storyline this show can bring. Unfortunately there are too many people that will hate on the premise of this show. Truth be told, this is a new reality that is becoming more common. I’m glad that this show is bold enough to address this new normal in a light way. Hopefully this will kill some of the fears within our society & create tolerance on more & bigger issues.
