Despite protests from film director Spike Lee and actor Katt Williams (really Katt), Django Unchained  was well received at the box office during opening day.

According to THR, movie goers came out in big numbers yesterday making Django Unchained   the top Christmas Day opening for an R-rated film. It exceeded the $10 million mark earned by Ali  back in 2002. The film also garnered the third-best Christmas Day opening of all time after Sherlock Holmes  and Les Miserables.

Django Unchained stars Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Samuel L. Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Congratulations gang!
