America’s favorite TV Dad, Bill Cosby is planning to return to primetime in a new family comedy for NBC.  The 77-year-old comedic actor announced the news earlier this year, however details were a bit vague.  Well now THR is confirming that NBC is indeed moving forward with the series with plans to debut it summer or fall 2015.

The untitled show is being described as a “classic, big extended family sitcom” and is written and produced by Mike Sikowitz and Mike O’Malley. Cosby will also co-star as the family patriarch and father to three married daughters with children.

The comedy legend made television magic with NBC in the 80’s with the groundbreaking program, The Cosby Show.  A return to the network is exactly what he feels viewers have been waiting for a long time.

“I want to be able to deliver a wonderful show to [a] network because there is a viewership out there that wants to see comedy, and warmth, and love, and surprise, and cleverness, without going into the party attitude,”  Cosby said to THR in January. “They would like to see a married couple that acts like they love each other, warts and all, children who respect the parenting, and the comedy of people who make mistakes. Warmth and forgiveness. So I hope to get that opportunity, and I will deliver the best of Cosby, and that will be a series, I assume, that we could get enough people week after week after week to tune in to, to come along with us.”

Stay tuned…
