HBO has announced that its upcoming drama “Confirmation” starring Kerry Washington will air this April.  As previously reported, the made-for-television drama examines 1991 debacle when Judge Clarence Thomas’ nomination to the United States’ Supreme Court is called into question over accusations that sexually harassed former colleague and attorney Anita Hill.

Washington will star as Hill and Judge Thomas is portrayed by “Selma” actor Wendell Pierce. “Confirmation” also stars Jennifer Hudson as Angela Wright, Jeffrey Wright as Charles Ogletree, Greg Kinnear as Joe Biden and Kristen Ariza as Judy Smith.

Rounding out the all-star cast is Kimberly Elise as Sonia Jarvis, Alison Wright as Ginni Thomas, Dylan Baker as Orrin Hatch, Erika Christensen as Shirley Wiegand, Malcolm Gets as Arlen Specter, Grace Gummer as Ricki Seidman, Zoe Lister-Jones as Carolyn Hart, Peter McRobbie as Alan Simpson, Treat Williams as Edward Kennedy and Eric Stonestreet as Ken Duberstein.

“Confirmation” is directed by Rick Famuyiwa of “Dope” fame and is written by Susannah Grant of “Erin Brockovich.”  Washington will also serve as one of the project’s executive producers. The film was shot on location in Atlanta, GA.
